About Just Breathe Speech Pathology & Holistic Wellness

Just Breathe Speech Pathology & Holistic Wellness is built on the belief that every child deserves to be seen, heard, supported just as they are, and nurtured to grow into who they’re meant to be. Founded by licensed speech-language pathologist and yoga educator Caitlin, this unique practice integrates evidence-based speech therapy with the wisdom of yoga fundamentals to nurture both voice and nervous system regulation.

Rooted in play, breath, and connection, Just Breathe offers therapeutic support for children and families navigating speech, language, and communication challenges in a safe and joyful environment. Here, we don’t rush—we listen. We slow down. We breathe together.

Whether it’s learning to form words, strengthening social communication, or finding calm through mindful movement and breath, our sessions center the whole child. We honor the power of co-regulation, curiosity, and embodied learning, offering an innovative, heart-forward approach that brings therapy out of the sterile office environment and into the realm of possibility.

Through individual sessions, family-centered care, and community classes, Just Breathe Speech Pathology & Holistic Wellness helps children thrive in their bodies, minds, and voices—one breath, one word, one moment at a time.

Meet Caitlin Mason

M.S. CCC-SLP (Speech Language Pathologist)

RYT-200 (Registered Yoga Teacher)

RCYT-95 (Registered Children's Yoga Teacher)

Growing up in a small town in Western New York, I always had a passion for helping others. This led me to earn both my Bachelor's and Master's in Speech and Language Disabilities from SUNY Fredonia in 2005, upon which I started my journey as a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP).

In my late 20s, my career unexpectedly led me to the beautiful island of Kauai. Ten incredible years followed. Working as an SLP for the Department of Education, I provided therapy services to students of all ages and abilities. During my downtime, I immersed myself in island life and discovered a love for yoga and barre, eventually becoming a Barre instructor. In 2019, my husband and I embarked on a new chapter and moved to California. I continued my work as an SLP while we explored the wonders of the West Coast.

However, our hearts drew us closer to family, and in 2021, we settled in Saint Augustine. My love for yoga was reignited here, and I completed the 200-hour and 95-hour trainings to become a certified yoga and children’s yoga teacher. While I continue to work as a speech pathologist, I‘m eager to connect with the St. Augustine community and provide a holistic approach to speech therapy that is individualized to each client.

Benefits of Yoga & Communication

  • Yoga poses that involve hand movements or mimicking letter shapes can help children visually associate letters with sounds, aiding in decoding words.

  • The rhythmic breathing practices in yoga can promote a smooth flow of thought and speech, improving reading fluency, as well as speech fluency (stuttering).

  • Incorporating vocabulary-related prompts during yoga poses can help children connect new words with physical movements, enhancing vocabulary.

  • By engaging in structured sequences of poses, children can work on following directions, memory, and develop an awareness of the order and structure of language (syntax).

  • Yoga can encourage active listening and comprehension of stories or instructions, contributing to language development.

  • Mindfulness practices integrated into yoga sessions can help children become more aware of their own cognitive processes and improve self-regulation, a key aspect of metacognition and learning.

  • Yoga increases body awareness, improving both posture and breath. These are two of the essential foundations of oral speech.
